FAQ

Questions, answered.

The things students ask us most.

What is LectureBot?
A study companion for the whole semester. You record your lectures; LectureBot turns them into notes, professor callouts, study guides, flashcards and practice tests, works out your schedule, and tells you what to study next and how ready you are for each exam.
Is it just a note-taking app?
No. Notes are the starting point. LectureBot is built to be a tutor and organiser: it tracks what you know through flashcards and practice tests, and plans your studying backwards from your exam dates.
What are professor callouts?
Moments in a lecture where your professor flags something as important — "this will be on the exam", "remember this". LectureBot finds them in every recording and shows them separately from your notes, so they're never buried.
Do I need to set up my classes first?
No. The first time you record somewhere new, LectureBot asks which class it is. After that, recordings at that place are filed automatically, and your timetable is worked out from when you record.
Which devices does it work on?
Record on iPhone or Android. Study on the web, or in the apps for Mac and Windows. Everything stays in sync across them.
Can I add my own course material?
Yes. Upload your syllabus, readings, slides and handouts. They're used alongside your recordings when LectureBot builds study guides and tests.
Can I share with classmates?
Yes. You can share a whole class — notes, callouts, study guides and tests — and set up study groups to meet in person or study together virtually.
Should I ask before recording a lecture?
Yes. Check your school's policy and your professor's wishes before recording. Many institutions allow recording for personal study, but rules vary.
Who can see my recordings?
Your recordings, transcripts and notes are yours alone unless you choose to share a class. The app's activity feed shows that something happened — like "recorded a lecture" — but never the content itself. See our privacy policy for details.
